Presented is a mid‑20th‑century hand‑carved devotional figure of Nuestra Señora de la Soledad de Oaxaca, created in Oaxaca, Mexico and signed by artisan M. Cortez. This example features carved wood construction with gessoed and gilt front surfaces, black lacquer ground, and finely painted facial details typical of Oaxacan folk‑religious workshops active during the 1950s–1970s.

The base bears the hand‑lettered inscription “N. S. de la Soledad de Oaxaca”, confirming its devotional identity and regional origin. The signature M. Cortez adds desirable provenance and aligns with documented Cortez‑family carvings of the same period.
