Offered is an authentic Mandalay‑period Burmese lacquer manuscript chest, crafted with a woven bamboo body and carved wooden feet, then finished in rich layers of black lacquer, cinnabar‑red pigment, and gilded thayo relief.

The lid features a slightly curved, flat top framed by raised gilded scrollwork and beaded borders. The sides and feet display matching ornamentation. The interior is coated in red lacquer, and the underside reveals the traditional bamboo weave used in temple‑grade lacquerware.

Condition is consistent with age: scattered lacquer losses, softened gilding, and surface wear that affirm authenticity and add character. The piece remains stable and visually impressive.

Measurements: 11.5″ × 5.5″ × 7.25″

Provenance & Use: Likely produced in the Mandalay region for monastic use as a kammavaca manuscript chest or ceremonial offering box.
